Here are answers to questions nobody has asked me. Do you have a question for me? Please :ask!

Compassion

An action is compassionate if it is :beneficial to others I am unsure whether action beneficial to yourself is compassionate.. I figure that a person is compassionate if the sum of the compassionate-ness (beneficial consequences) of their actions is significantly positive, but this is intuitively a bit confusing. I need to think more on this.

I will write more about this in the future.

Consonance

When you strongly desire things (expectation) but you become aware that those desires will not be fulfilled (realization) you suffer. I call this suffering dissonance, and the lack of dissonance is consonance.

I will write more about this in the future.

Dialectic

By dialectic I refer to the process of evolving I will link a definition in the future, but for now please do with evolution as a system with mutation, heredity, and selection. understanding, particularly involving multiple “minds” capable of understanding. These minds do not have to be conscious They might, depending on how I end up defining consciousness..

Eudaimonia

Eudaimonia, traditionally used to mean happiness or sometimes flourishing, is to me the quality of a “good life.” A life can be more or less eudaimonic, and a person should aspire to this end.

Three aspects measure eudaimonia: :consonance, :independence, and :compassion. A certain action is (eudaimonically) beneficial if the sum of the effects in increasing consonance, independence, and compassion is positive, detrimental if negative, and neutral if there either is no change or the change is not significant.

I will write more about this in the future.

Eudynagonia

Eudynagonia is, essentially, an attitude concerning :dissonance. Essentially, it means to establish companionship with dissonance: There is no escaping it At least not from the vast majority of people., it is futile to desire it away, and, anyway, it is an opportunity.

The message is not to seek dissonance, as that would be :detrimental. Instead, it is to intelligently set yourself up for success when it arrives.

I will write more about this in the future.

Independence

I am still working through what exactly independence is. I know that it is fundamentally distinct from :consonance and :compassion, but a few meanings I am playing with are:

Perhaps it will end up being a combination of the two.

I will write more about this in the future.
